CR11108, CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76 Battery Equivalents, and Replacements
CR11108, CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76, etc. lithium non-rechargeable 3V cylindrical cell batteries often used in various applications like dog collars, small flashlights, laser pens, gun sights, cameras, blood glucose meters, thermometers, etc.
CR11108 lithium batteries feature 1/3 height of the N size batteries and are double in height when compared with LR44/SR44/AG13/A76. Thus, it is often labeled as CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76, etc.
CR11108, CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76 Features and Specifications
CR11108 or CR1/3N battery is a cylindrical battery featuring 11.8 mm (0.464 inch) diameter and 10.8 mm (0.425 mm) height.
Most commonly 11.8 x 10.8 mm batteries are made as non-rechargeable 3 volts lithium batteries, featuring Manganese Dioxide positive electrode and Lithium negative electrode and thus being labeled as CR11108 batteries.
The nominal voltage of the CR11108 battery is 3.0 volts, cutoff voltage around 2.0 volts, and nominal capacity of 160-170 mAh.
Note: actual 'open circuit' voltage may be even in 3.2-3.4 volts range, but as the battery is being used, actual voltage quickly drops to 2.8-2.9 volts and is more or less constant until it starts to fall down to 2.0 volts when the battery is considered discharged. Also, actual capacity depends on the discharge current and the cutoff voltage of the battery load.
As a lithium non-rechargeable battery, the CR11108 battery is known as having a very long shelf life, with 3-5 years being normal, but with some models having 7+ years shelf life, which is very important for many devices that are used only in emergencies.
Due to its popularity, CR11108 or CR1/3N battery is manufactured by practically all the most reputable battery brands, and getting one from local or online stores shouldn't be a problem.
Batteries Related to CR11108, CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76 Batteries
LR44/SR44 Battery: Due to its size (11.6 x 10.8 mm), the CR11108 battery may be replaced with a pair of LR44 or a pair of SR44 batteries, creating a battery with a nominal voltage of 3.0 volts and 110-130 mAh capacity (2x LR44 batteries) or a battery with a nominal voltage of 3.1 volts and capacity of 150-200 mAh (2x SR44 batteries).
N Size Battery: N Size batteries feature a diameter of 12 mm and height of 30.2 mm and in most cases may be replaced with three CR11108 batteries creating a 9 volts battery pack. Since N size batteries are alkaline batteries featuring 1.5 volts nominal voltage, they should not be replaced with 3 CR11108 batteries due to the high voltage difference which can damage the device.
However, there are some units that support the use of 3x CR11108 batteries (9 volts) and are even designed for special 9V N cells, which are relatively rare.
Long Story Short: CR11108, CR1/3N, CR-1/3N, DL1/3N, 2L76 batteries are reliable lithium batteries with a long shelf life often used in many devices, including cameras, medical equipment, EDC and pocket flashlights, remote control units, and similar.
Although they may be replaced with LR44 and SR44 batteries, it is often much easier to use CR11108 batteries than double the number of LR44/SR44 batteries.
If You need CR11108 or CR1/3N battery replacement, go for batteries from reputable brands that feature at least 3-5 year shelf life, especially if you need batteries for standby/medical devices.
